Box Office Results: I always get hurt by guinea pigs in the end...wait

On the plus side...WOOO HA did District 9 nail it! I saw most projections coming in at the $27-30 million range, and those projections were happy ones! I mean, this thing had a $30 million budget and now has a CLEAR shot at the $100 million club, especially given the word of mouth around it and the fact that there is very little coming to challenge it (maybe Inglorious Basterds but it isn't a serious or long-term threat). So, for that, thanks, America! Also worth noting, Rachel McAdams should be in more movies. She stars in an obvious clunker that sat on the shelf FOREVER and still makes nearly $20 million opening weekend...imagine what would happen if you gave her a good movie. Make note, studios, when you say "I wonder if Cameron Diaz or Charlize Theron is available" you scratch that note out and make one that says HIRE RACHEL McADAMS! Finally, the one negative of the week, the GD guinea pigs ruined my good run. All good things come to an end, and once more I have guinea pigs in mine...wait...

Here are the results (haiku lovin'):

1.) District 9 - $37 million (Accuracy of prediction - 93%)

Holy crap! I'm shocked!
A GREAT movie did huge bank!
This cannot be right.

2.) GI Joe: Rise of Cobra - $22.5 million (Accuracy of prediction - 97%)

Cobra had less rise,
it couldn't hop to the top.
They have pills for that.

3.) The Time Traveler's Wife - $19 million (Accuracy of prediction - 97%)

Oh, Miss McAdams.
The depths to which I love thee.
...not enough to watch.

4.) Julie and Julia - $12 million (Accuracy of prediction - 96%)

Smells like a winner.
Also, kind of smells like fish.
Maybe it's just me.

5.) G-Force - $7 million (Accuracy of prediction - 0%)

Thanks again you pigs.
Rodents haven't been this mean
since Richard Gere's day.

Overall accuracy of prediction - 77%

It just gets harder,
summer box office is fun.
The fall makes me cry.

That's it gang, go back about your Monday business.
